If YOU know the name and phone number of the person (as you often are stating)you feel has critisiced you then send your lawyer threats and your pathetic behaviour in his direction. Your behaviour here implies you are guilty of his accusations.

Alan Bollard reappointed as Governor
The Finance Minister today announced that Dr Alan Bollard has been reappointed Reserve Bank Governor and that he and the Governor had signed an unchanged Policy Targets Agreement (PTA).

Dr Bollard's term as Governor has been extended a further five years, expiring in September 2012.

"Alan has demonstrated his integrity and outstanding general management skills in performing his duties as Governor over the past five years so I am pleased to accept the Reserve Bank Board's recommendation to reappoint him for another five year term," said Dr Cullen

The Minister and the Governor agreed that the current PTA continues to ensure transparency and provides an appropriate basis for accountability in the conduct of monetary policy.

"As Minister of Finance my priority is to maintain a disciplined fiscal policy approach to help the Governor achieve the inflation outcomes in the PTA."

Dr Bollard said he was pleased to accept another term as Governor of the Reserve Bank.

Dr Cullen and Dr Bollard added that if their understanding of the appropriate targets and mechanisms changed for the operation of monetary policy, which could arise from the select committee inquiry into monetary policy, then Dr Cullen and Dr Bollard could agree to amend the Policy Targets Agreement at that time.

Noble Numismatics July auction in Melbourne
Noble Numismatics July auction in Melbourne Will contain numerous examples of good New Zealand banknotes from 3 collections and individual vendors.

I was fortunate enough to have a look at some of it and there are lots of notes that would be welcome in my collection but the budget will not allow it.

There are some outstanding Trading Bank notes, an 'OK' pound, a selection of Wilks star notes in consecutive pairs and singles including some difficult prefixes. There are a large amount of RBNZ pre decimal issues as well as many decimal issues.

More details as they come to hand. There were so many lots to look at in a short time that I was unable to write most of it down. I also did not see a lot of it.

The catalogue should appear on Nobles website in early July (earlier if we are lucky!). Well worth a browse through when it appears.

I hope to view the whole lot in a few weekends time when more of it is lotted up and accessable.

The TOPIC sections (Forums)
The "TOPIC" sections (Forums) of this site have been modified so that they can be accessed by non registered visitors. They can view but not add replies to them.

Signing up as a member will give you the rights to upload your opinions.

In the short term this has created a hiccup in the current Topics (of which there are many many more than those showing on this homepage),in that the order of the comments on the topics seems to have changed to a reverse order thus making them difficult to follow.

We hope to have this problem rectified as soon as possible.

Reserve Bank Currency Manager Retires
Many THANKS to Brian for all his assistance over many years with my research on the currency of NEW Zealand. We all hope you thoroughly enjoy your retirement! Cheers.

For your information the Reserve Bank has just issued this news release.

11 December 2006

Brian Lang retires from the Reserve Bank

The Reserve Bank announced today that Mr Brian Lang will be retiring from the Bank on 15 December 2006.

A career central banker, Brian Lang joined the Bank in 1962 and has filled a wide range of senior positions, including Chief Manager Registry; Chief Manager Computer Services; and Chief Manager Personnel. He was appointed to his present position, Head of Currency and Building Services, in 1991.

Mr Lang has been closely involved with the modernisation of New Zealand's bank notes and coins over the past 15 years. This includes introducing $1 and $2 coins in 1991; changing the designs and sizes of the bank notes in 1992/93; changing to polymer bank notes in 1999; and this year, improving our low value coins.

Reserve Bank Governor Alan Bollard said Mr Lang has made a huge contribution to the Reserve Bank over the last 44 years. "Through the dedication of Mr Lang, the Reserve Bank has made considerable progress in advancing New Zealand's currency and making New Zealand a world leader in currency modernisation."

Alan Boaden, who has worked at the Bank for over 15 years, will replace Mr Lang as Head of Currency and Building Services. Mr Boaden has had a number of roles at the Bank. He worked in the Economics Department for 12 years, but more recently he managed the change-over to New Zealand's smaller lighter 50, 20 and 10 cent pieces.

Mr Boaden takes up his appointment on 18 December 2006.

Slight delay in 2004 set deliveries
There will be a slight delay in the delivery of the 2004 same numbered sets as per the email copied below.

"There has been a delay with the packaging of these as the mounts have been sourced Internationally and are taking awhile to get here (probably due to Christmas).

In the meantime, the notes need to be secure so are at the Reserve Bank and will remain there until we have everything else in place. Can you please update the note on your site to reflect this and highlight that no one will be charged until the sets are ready for delivery? I hope to have these out by the 22nd, earlier if I can."
